Girls Cricket Hub - starts end Feb
There is an MCC Foundation Girls Only Cricket Hub for P6-S3 (U16) starting weekly on Fridays from the 28th February, 6:30-8, at the St Joseph's Sports Hall. This is for those not at a fee-paying school and is free to attend and is organised through Cricket Scotland and is a great opportunity locally.
We are encouraging girls at the club to sign-up plus interested friends and also those keen to try out the game and with an initial focus on soft ball cricket.

Junior Matches this season

U11s - The U11s play Lanercost away in the Cumbria Cup. Cumbria League games start on Sunday mornings on the 4th May with a league of 8 teams this year.
U13s - The U13s play Stainton at home in the Cumbria Cup. Cumbria League games on Friday evenings start on the 25th April.
U15s - We have entered two Cricket Scotland Cup competitions at U15 & U16 and a Cumbria U15 Cup with us playing away at Carlisle.
Winter Junior Sessions
Our indoor junior sessions, for boys and girls, take a break next week for the mid-term holidays and will be back after the holiday on Monday, 24th February.
Mondays 5-6pm Stars (5-8 years), Boys and Girls (27 January - 3 March. 5 sessions)
Wednesdays 5-6pm Blasters/Chargers (9-11/12-15 years) Boys and Girls (29 January - 5 March. 5 sessions)
New starters very welcome. Come along or contact us. And you can bring a friend too. The fun starts indoors!

Women's and Girls Sessions
The weekly Women's & Girls soft ball indoor sessions also take a break next week and and will be back after the holiday on Monday, 24th February.

These are introductory soft ball sessions and are suitable for secondary school ages and also for those starting out and want to have a go. We are looking for more participants so contact womenscricket@dumfriescricketclub.com with any questions otherwise just turn up for a free try.
Online Courses
There are "Child Welfare & Protection in Sport" courses taking place at the moment online on zoom. These are free to attend. i.e.

These can be booked HERE under Support and Training and this needs to be done 2 weeks in advance to allow for completion of an initial module 1.

There are ICC Level 1 Coaching courses taking place in Glasgow and Dundee.

Sports Club Social - Sat 22 Feb
Eyes down for a Bingo Night at the club on Saturday the 22nd February, 6:45 for 7:30 start with tickets £1 per game and purchased on the night.

This year "SCRS registration is now REQUIRED FOR ALL ADULTS AND JUNIORS playing competitive adult league and cup cricket" in Scotland.
SCRS is the Scottish Cricket Registration System and further details about how to register can be found here www.cricketscotland.com/Register
Registration is required this season so you need to organise your own sign up here or ensure that it is has been renewed for this year.
This has relevance as to how the club is categorised, supported and considered for outside funding by Cricket Scotland. So help out your hard pressed club admins and get it completed now. Please don't give us more work chasing you.

Cricket Connections
Chad (Breetzke) was our overseas player in 2011. His 26 year-old younger brother, Matthew, is making his way with the South Africa international side and in this week's BBC article - "Breetzke makes ODI history with 150 but SA lose to NZ" he became the became the first player to make 150 on their one-day international debut. He followed that up with an 80 in the next game against Pakistan and with 233 aggregate runs in two matches has broken another international record,

The Sports Club Management Committee meeting for the newly appointed committee is on Mon 24th February (the last Monday of the month).
